The Bighorn River in Montana sustains 65,000 acres of irrigated farmland within Montana’s Bighorn basin through four canal systems that facilitate the growth of malt barley, winter wheat, alfalfa, corn, sugar beets and pulse crops.

The Bighorn River Alliance works to identify projects of mutual benefit to farm and ranch operators in the Bighorn Valley and to the long-term health of the Bighorn River.
