Rick Gehweiler

President

Occupation: Manager of Bighorn River Lodge

Years fishing the Bighorn: 30

Conservation Causes: Bighorn River Alliance

Bighorn Favorite: The beauty of the river. No houses or buildings on the river from the dam to Mallards. The abundance of big hearty Browns and Rainbows. The variety of bug life and changing entomology through the year. It fishes all year long if you can find food weather windows in the winter.

Residence: Fort Smith, MT

Conservation Causes: Bighorn River Alliance

Bighorn Favorite: I am an avid fisher person and first discovered, along with my husband Dave, the Bighorn in 1992. We took a guided trip and on our first day landed a bunch of fish and have been hooked since. No matter where our travels would take us, we would invariably detour and end up on the Bighorn.

Bighorn Favorite: When I'm not fishing, I'm thinking about fishing. The Bighorn is just a special place. It needs to be preserved for our kids and grandkids.

Hale Harris

Occupation: Outfitter, business owner and fly fishing guide for Bighorn Trout Shop

Residence: Fort Smith, MT

Conservation Causes: Bighorn Alliance, Native Fish Society, Wild Steelhead Coalition

Bighorn Favorite: The Bighorn has something for everybody. The dry fly purist can often find fish feeding on the surface. Nymph fishing produces fish for novices or intermediates- and the presence of large fish keeps everything exciting.

Occupation: Fly-Fishing guide at Bighorn Angler

Residence: Fort Smith, MT

Conservation Causes: Bighorn Alliance, Henry's Fork Foundation, Trout Unlimited, Quail Unlimited

Bighorn Favorite: My favorite thing about the Bighorn is the dry fly fishing and sight nymphing. I love all the hatches and their own uniqueness to the different seasons. The section I enjoy the most is the 3 to B section. I also value the lack of development along the Bighorn banks. I see so many rivers where the wild and scenic aspect has been impacted by development, but not the Bighorn.
