Kayhan Ostovar

Kayhan is an Environmental Science and Wildlife Conservation professor at Rocky Mountain College (RMC) and the director of the Yellowstone River Research Center. With RMC students he will be coordinating the Bighorn Water Quality Monitoring Program and reviewing the literature to assess the potential effects of American white pelicans on fish in the Bighorn River. He has conducted surveys on the Blue Nile in Ethiopia, organized BioBlitz citizen science projects in Yellowstone National Park, and for 14 years has led an annual Yellowstone River cleanup project which has removed nearly 120,000 lbs of trash. For the past six years he has been studying snapping turtles and spiny softshell turtles in the Bighorn and Yellowstone rivers, as well as many other tributaries.
